- Contractors must be registered with the city. The city page says roofers register as general contractors and get the permit before work starts, including tear-off.
- Replacing any decking changes the permit. If part of the roof deck is replaced, the city asks for a Residential Alteration permit instead.
- The city inspects. It requires an attic check and a final roof inspection, and drip edge on asphalt shingle roofs.
- Hail has hit here before. The National Weather Service's preliminary report for April 3, 2014 lists hail up to 4.25 inches, softball size, near the Texas Woman's University campus.
