Roof repair in Plano

Roof repair in Plano: what the city requires, then request a roofer

Send us your address and what you see. If your address is in our area, your request goes to our roofing partner who inspects the roof and gives you the scope and price in writing.

What Plano requires, from the city's own pages

  • Re-roofs over a quarter of the roof need a permit. The City of Plano's residential re-roof handout says re-roof work not exceeding 25% of the roof does not require a permit.
  • The city inspects the attic, too. The same handout says the final roof inspection includes the attic, to check vent piping and exhaust vents.
  • The 2024 International Residential Code applies. Plano adopted it, with local amendments, effective August 1, 2025.
  • Questions go to Building Inspections. The handout lists (972) 941-7140. It is dated 2016, so confirm current rules with the city before work starts.

Dallas Roof Works is a referral service, not the roofer. Our roofing partner does the work. Ask them who applies for the permit and to show you the permit number before work starts.

What we won't do

What we won't do: diagnose your roof from a desk, push a roof you don't need, ask you to sign anything first, or offer an illegal deductible deal.

What to ask any roofer in Plano

Texas has no statewide roofing license, so these questions are how you check. The Dallas guide to choosing a roofer goes deeper.

  • Can I see the certificate of insurance?
  • Who pulls the permit, if one is needed?
  • What is the written scope and price?
  • Who issues the warranty, and what does it cover?
